A new beginning

With a stunning view of the lake and a dream of a new home, Jon and Jenny are at a turning point in their lives. Their old summer house is to be demolished and a new, modern house built in its place. This journey, which started with a vision and a sketch, is not only a building process but also an opportunity for the family to create their dream home. Here we will explore their background, the challenges they faced and the solutions they developed along the way.

Family background and dream

Jon and Jenny are a young family with big dreams. They have longed to build a house that truly suits their lifestyle and needs. With one-year-old son Dylan and cat James in the family, they have a strong motivation to create a safe and inspiring environment for their future. Jenny, a consulting manager, has always had a passion for design and has now taken the step to design her own house. Jon, a car glass salesman, has a practical mind and a willingness to contribute to the building process.

The location they chose, by the lake in Häcken, is a place they fell in love with at first sight. Here they have visions of creating a home where they can enjoy nature, spend time with family and friends and make memories together. Their dream home has become a symbol of their shared future and ambitions.

Drawings and plans for the new house

Jenny has put a lot of time and effort into designing the layout of the house. Her vision includes large windows that let in natural light and create a sense of space. The kitchen, which will be the heart of the house, is strategically placed to provide a great view of the lake. The new building will be on one and a half levels and have a stylish design with black painted wood paneling.

The house will include several bedrooms, a bathroom with a bathtub and a large open plan living room and kitchen. A spiral staircase will lead up to the upper floor, where there will be space for family and friends. Jenny has also placed great emphasis on creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment, which is reflected in her drawings.

Start of construction and the first challenges

The start of construction has been a long time coming, and now it’s finally time for Jon and Jenny to see their dreams come true. But as with any building project, it’s not without its challenges. The first big challenge was to demolish the old summer house. It took careful planning and cooperation to ensure the demolition went smoothly.

The family had high expectations, but once the work started, they quickly realized that it would not be an easy journey. Complications arose with the building contractor, who did not share their vision and approach. Jon and Jenny wanted to be more involved in the construction process, but this led to communication problems that threatened to delay the project.

Conflicts with building contractors

The conflict with the building contractor became a significant point in the construction project. Jon and Jenny wanted to take control of the construction process and contribute their own ideas and work. However, the contractor was not willing to loosen his grip, leading to misunderstandings and frustration. They realized that the collaboration wasn’t working and that it was time to reconsider their options.

Eventually, they reached a point where they decided to terminate the contract with the contractor. It was a difficult decision, but they felt it was necessary in order to continue with the project. Without a contractor, the project was at risk of stalling over the summer, so Jon and Jenny decided to enlist the help of friends and family in the construction industry to get the project back on track.

Taking control of construction

Taking control of the construction was a liberating feeling for Jon and Jenny. With the support of their loved ones, they started working on the foundations, which marked a new phase in the project. They felt they could shape the house according to their own ideas and visions, giving them a sense of ownership over the building process.

With the help of friends and family, they were able to move forward quickly. The mood brightened and they looked forward to seeing their dream take shape. They also planned to hire a new construction company to help them with the frame, which would be the next step in the building process. Jon and Jenny felt that they had now taken back control of their project and that the future looked bright.

Challenges and creative solutions

With fall and winter approaching, Jon and Jenny have faced several seasonal challenges. One of the biggest has been protecting the building from the weather. They have quickly realized that weatherproofing the structure is crucial to prevent damage during adverse weather conditions.

The family has also had to improvise. When the carpenters left them alone with the unfinished house, it became necessary to quickly find creative solutions to keep the building moving. They have enlisted the help of friends and family, which has created a sense of community and cooperation.

To manage water availability, they have installed a water heater in the garage, which allows them to wash and bathe without having to go to the lake when the temperature drops. This has become an important part of their daily lives and a reminder of their adaptability.

Closing: A home is born

Jon and Jenny have had an amazing journey, from dreaming of a new house to seeing it become a reality. Despite all the challenges and setbacks, they have managed to create a home that reflects their style and values.
