Return visit to Äggdal

In the first segment, we visit Äggdal, where Gert and Karin have been working for four years to transform an old farm into a dream home. With a background as architects, they have taken on the task with great passion and commitment. What was once a construction site has now been transformed into a stunning residence that harmonizes with nature.

It all started with a vision to demolish the old and build new. Gert and Karin wanted to create a modern structure while preserving the feel of the place. With large panes of glass and a flat roof design, they have managed to create a home that is both stylish and functional.

Construction process and challenges

The construction process has been anything but easy. Challenges have emerged at every stage of the project. One of the biggest challenges was dealing with the hidden doors that transform the barn into a modern house. Gert and Karin have carefully and precisely designed these doors to preserve the open flow of the home.

Another aspect that has been central to their design is creating spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Every choice of material has been made with sustainability in mind and to maximize natural light. It has been a balancing act between preserving the old and introducing the new.

Despite all the challenges, Gert and Karin have worked together as a team. Their cooperation has been crucial in overcoming obstacles and achieving their goals. The time invested has resulted in a place where the family can gather and enjoy life together.

Building of ship containers in Tranås

From Äggdal, we now move on to Tranås, where Sebastian and Sofia have built their home from old shipping containers. This project has not only been a challenge in the construction process, but also a creative solution to reuse materials in a sustainable way. By using containers, they have managed to keep costs down while creating a unique home.

Building the containers has required a lot of work and commitment. Sebastian and Sofia have done much of the work themselves, which has meant learning new skills along the way. Cutting and customizing the containers to fit their vision has been a big part of the process.

What really stands out about their home is how they have managed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere inside, despite the rough surface of the containers. By carefully choosing colors and materials, they have created a sense of harmony and balance. The view from their panoramic windows is another highlight, providing a great insight into the surrounding nature.

The challenges have been many; from insulating the containers to creating a workable floor plan. But by working together, they have overcome these obstacles and created a home that truly reflects their personality and style. Their project shows the power of creativity and innovation, and how you can think differently when it comes to house building.

The finished home in Tranås

In Tranås, Sebastian and Sofia have not only built a home, but created a lifestyle. Their house made of shipping containers is proof that you can combine functionality with aesthetics on a sustainable level. It’s a place where every square metre is carefully considered and every choice of material strives to minimize environmental impact.

The finished home is a harmonious blend of industrial style and warm decor. By using recycled materials, they have created a unique atmosphere that reflects their personality. The open-plan kitchen and living room are inviting, with large windows letting in natural light and offering stunning views of the surroundings.

One of the most impressive aspects of their home is the innovative use of space. Each room has its own character, and they’ve managed to maximize functionality without compromising on design. The minimalist kitchen, with its clean lines and clever storage solutions, is a dream for those who love to cook.

The transformation of a fire station in Skåne

From Tranås, we head to Skåne, where an old fire station has undergone an amazing transformation. What was once a functional building has now become a modern home with a unique history. With a vision to preserve the old while integrating new elements, the owners have created a home that is truly unique.

The renovation of the fire station has been a challenge, but also an opportunity to revive a part of Skåne’s history. The old fire alarms and equipment have been preserved as a tribute to the building’s origins, giving character to the modern home. The open plan layout between the kitchen and living room creates a sense of space and light, which is an important aspect of the modern lifestyle.

The choice of materials has also played a crucial role in the project. By using sustainable and locally sourced materials, the owners have ensured that their home is not only beautiful, but also environmentally friendly. Much of the renovation has focused on energy efficiency, making the house far more sustainable than it ever was.
