Victor Noblesse - An extraordinary hair salon on Magasinsgatan in Gothenburg
A hair salon out of the ordinary
Victor Noblesse is not just a hair salon – it’s an award-winning destination for hair care and style, located in the heart of Gothenburg. After 20 years at Grönsakstorget, owners Dani and Marlene Abunar took a bold step and moved the business to Magasinsgatan. The aim was to streamline the space while modernizing the brand to attract a younger and more trend-conscious audience. Dani Abunar, who is one of Sweden’s most renowned hairdressers and a world champion in hairdressing, aimed to create a salon that combines creativity, functionality and luxury.
After we at Stiligt helped them with bespoke kitchens and wardrobes in their private residence, we were asked to contribute with bespoke furniture and interior design for their new salon. Even before the contract for the space was signed, we were brought in to ensure that the grand vision was feasible. The challenge was huge – in 350 square meters, we had to fit 17 workstations, 5 shampooing chairs, product shelves, reception, storage, toilets, a color bar and waiting areas for 15 customers.
A comprehensive mission with a focus on end-to-end solutions
In this project, we took responsibility for the planning and placement of ceilings, lighting design, ventilation, cooling, material selection and delivery of bespoke interiors. Our ambition is always to create an experience that exceeds expectations, whether it is a private residence or a commercial space. For Victor Noblesse, we aimed to create Sweden’s finest hair salon – a place that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also extremely functional for both hairdressers and customers.
Lighting design, which is one of our greatest passions at Stiligt, was central to the project. We created a balanced lighting scheme by combining spotlights, suspended line lighting and integrated lighting in the furniture. Together with carefully selected materials such as walnut and anthracite laminate and black oak veneer, we created an atmosphere that is both modern and inviting.
Today, Victor Noblesse is not only the only Wella Flagship Salon in the Nordics, but also a salon that sets the standard for luxury and innovation in hair care. The results speak for themselves – but we’ll leave it to you to decide if we succeeded in our vision.
Our core idea - creating an experience through layers of design
When creating a design, our goal is to give each project a unique experience. We achieve this by working with layers – visual, functional and atmospheric. Even before the door opens, the eye is caught by the elegant, suspended luminaires. To create greater depth and the optical illusion of looking into the salon, we placed a mirror at the top.
The mirror interacts with ribbed screens that direct the eye towards the centrally placed sofa, a natural focal point in the room. The large ficus, strategically placed, acts as a subtle delimiter that prevents the gaze from continuing all the way into the salon.
The bars have not only an aesthetic role but also a practical function – they offer a place for customers to hang their clothes. Made of black oak veneer laminate, they combine stylish design with durability. To enhance the details, the clothes rails are integrated with LED lighting, creating a sophisticated lighting effect.
To facilitate cleaning and ensure long-term durability, the ribs are finished with a smooth base and an angled profile to protect against impact and wear during daily cleaning.
On the right-hand side, space was created to integrate more products, as well as a practical solution for hanging the ladder to the shelves. The well-thought-out design combines functionality with aesthetics and ensures that both staff and customers have easy access to the products.
As you pass the ribbed wall, you are met by two small walls, placed on either side. These walls provide both storage and hanging space, creating a practical and stylish environment. High mirrors are glued to each wall, giving customers a chance to take a last look at their freshly cut hair before leaving the salon. On the inside, commuters continue into the room without a mirror.
Elegant reception with smart storage
The reception area has an impressive front with three-layered panels, complemented by integrated LED lighting that creates an elegant depth effect. The materials – walnut and anthracite laminate – are used throughout the space and contribute to a harmonious and exclusive feel.
Inside the reception area, there is space for the cash register system, with smart storage solutions in the form of drawers and shelves. On the right-hand side, we have created a cabinet with an open area underneath that serves as a small workstation for office work. To protect against wear and tear and impact during cleaning, we added a discreet aluminum profile along the floor.
On the left side, we have built a product shelf hanging from a powder-coated steel structure, designed by us with precision. The shelf has LED lighting integrated in the front edge to highlight the products in an elegant way.
Above the reception desk, three pendant lights provide excellent task lighting and contribute to the well-balanced illumination of the room. On the wall behind the reception desk, Victor Noblesse’s new logo is placed, stylishly backlit with LEDs, making it an eye-catching and sophisticated detail.
Coffee shop with modern design
The coffee bar is seamlessly integrated with the reception area, enclosed by ribs that create a clear demarcation and give the impression that it is a separate section. This design makes the bar both a functional and aesthetic part of the space.
An integrated fridge gives customers the option to buy refreshments, while the advanced Top Brewer tap offers both coffee and sparkling water. The tap is easily controlled via an iPad elegantly mounted in the countertop, adding to the modern and sophisticated feel.
To enhance the details and highlight the shelves, we have used powder-coated steel front strips, which hide the 45-degree LED strips. This creates a stylish lighting effect that highlights the bar’s design while maintaining functionality.
Bespoke furniture that combines design and function in the passageway
The bespoke furniture in the passageway to the great room has several thoughtful features. Design-wise, it is designed to reduce the opening and create a sense of curiosity and anticipation – gradually discovering the great room rather than seeing it all at once.
In addition to its visual purpose, the furniture also offers practical storage. On the right-hand side there is a built-in cabinet for clipping chairs, and above this three upper cabinets with general storage. The furniture is upholstered in elegant walnut laminate panels that give a uniform and stylish impression.
On the left side, two push-to-open doors conceal storage for the coffee maker’s accessories, keeping the passage both functional and tidy. The fascia around the cabinet is recessed to accommodate integrated LED lighting, which subtly illuminates the inside of the opening, creating a soft and inviting atmosphere.
Exclusive product shelf with integrated lighting
The product shelf is built with a load-bearing powder-coated steel structure, designed by us with careful precision down to the smallest detail. To create a clean and modern aesthetic, we have integrated an LED strip at the front edge, which effectively illuminates each shelf and highlights the products in an elegant way.
The ladder, made of solid dark stained oak, is not only a practical solution for reaching higher shelves, but also an aesthetic detail that harmonizes with the luxurious design of the salon. The combination of function and form makes the product shelf a perfect balance between practicality and exclusivity.
Stylish seating area and partition for a luxurious salon experience
As you enter the large salon, you are greeted by a second seating area for clients, where they can relax with a cup of coffee while waiting for their hairdresser. The thoughtful design enhances the experience, with suspended luminaires placed at different heights to create visual dynamics and catch the eye.
A partition wall, designed and built by us, helps to define the room and create the feeling of a lounge space. It not only serves as an aesthetic delineation but also has a soundproofing function that improves the acoustics of the lounge. The partition is made in the same material and style as the ribbed panels in the entrance, creating a uniform and cohesive design. The dark-tinted glass enhances the exclusive feel and adds a sophisticated touch to the room.
Central design that combines aesthetics and function
As you pass the seating area, you are greeted by a central structure placed in the middle of the lounge. The structure is both aesthetic and functional, with four chairs placed around it and a design that also helps to absorb sound and improve the acoustics of the room.
One wall of the structure is clad with panels of varying depths, creating a dynamic and interesting surface that ends with a tall cabinet for practical storage. The other wall is adorned with a full-length mirror that extends all the way to the floor. The mirror is framed with integrated LED lighting on both sides, creating a pleasant and luxurious lighting effect. Ribbed panels complete the design, creating an elegant and cohesive feel that harmonizes with the rest of the salon’s decor.
Stylish drawer pulls
Between the freestanding mirrors are drawer slides with drawers on both sides, offering practical storage without compromising on the stylish design. On the top of the drawers, a tempered black-tinted glass is placed, adding a sophisticated and modern touch.
The metal structure is made of powder-coated steel profiles and is designed to harmonize with the overall aesthetic of the salon. It follows the same design language as the product shelves and the wall brackets for mirrors, creating a consistent and well thought-out whole.
Impressive panel wall with dynamic design
At the far end of the large salon, an impressive paneled wall extends from side to side of the room. The panels are designed with varying depths and widths, creating a visually dynamic and interesting surface. An LED strip runs along the top edge, reinforcing the structure of the panel wall by adding a subtle and elegant lighting that deepens the feeling of the room.
Two mirrors are strategically placed in the panel wall. One of the mirrors hides a discreet door that leads to a practical storage area where staff keep their work tools. This solution seamlessly combines aesthetics and function, contributing to the salon’s sophisticated and thoughtful design.
Exclusive VIP room - a secluded oasis of luxury and relaxation
On the right side of the panel wall, an elegant glass door leads into the VIP room – an exclusive and private space in the salon. The room is furnished with a comfortable armchair, a relief table and a wall-mounted cabinet that offers both function and style.
The VIP room is perfect for preparing for a wedding or other special occasion. It is also an ideal place for those who want to sit undisturbed and enjoy a quiet moment away from the rest of the salon. The thoughtful design makes this room a luxurious oasis in the salon.
Practical and stylish workspace for staff
As you pass the reception and take a few steps up, you are greeted by a well-organized workspace for staff. There is an area where they can mix colors and a small mini-pentry equipped with a dishwasher on the right side to easily handle customers’ cups and glasses.
Behind dark tinted glass doors are built-in racks for paint tubes. These racks were there from the start, but we adapted the width and height of the cabinets to maximize storage capacity and make the workflow as smooth as possible. The result is a functional and aesthetically pleasing space that facilitates the work of staff and contributes to the overall sophistication of the salon.
Elegant glass wall and functional partition with decorative details
After passing the Color Bar, you are greeted by a dark-tinted glass wall that delineates the area where customers are shampooed. The glass wall provides an elegant and private feeling while preserving the salon’s airy and modern design.
On the right, we have built a partition with open shelves, creating a decorative place to display awards and prizes. The lower part of the partition is designed to be both practical and functional – there is a space to easily throw in wet towels from both sides. The drawer is framed with a sturdy metal structure that not only supports the cabinet but also protects it from wear and tear and daily use.
Specially designed furniture with smart storage and atmospheric lighting
Under the windows is a specially designed, built-in cabinet that holds towels to easily dry customers’ hair. In the center section, we have integrated recessed holes in the top panel, perfectly adapted for shampoo bottles with pumps. Behind discreet doors, there is additional storage for full bottles, making it easy for staff to keep the area well organized and functional.
To create both atmosphere and function, we have placed LED lighting above each section. This lighting highlights the towels and adds depth to the design. Above the chairs are modern chandeliers that combine aesthetics and practical lighting. On the ceiling, we also installed two spotlights to illuminate the lower walls, where a panel with built-in sound absorption enhances the acoustic comfort of the room.
